Facilities
To create an environment that meets the study and research needs of our campus community, The Library provided the following
facilities:
COMPUTERS
The PCs in the library can be used to access library catalogue, electronic resources, Internet and email. Word processing and
other
general applications (Excel, Power point etc) are not available. To have access to word processing and other applications,
please go
to the Computer Labs.
There are 16 computers with 1 printer available at the Ground Floor for students to have
access to the electronic databases, library
online catalogue (OPAC), other online resources
and also for printing purposes.
There are 12 computers available at the First Floor. The computers at this floor are mainly use for information literacy training and
classes for Intensive English Program (IEP). The students can have access to electronic databases, library online catalogue (OPAC)
and other online resources when the computers are not in use.
1 printer is located at the Ground Floor. Please make sure you add the printer's name
(the printer's name is pasted on the wall next to
the printer) before you start printing.
Students can have remote access to electronic databases and library online catalogue (OPAC) from home and office through
Curtin Sarawak homepage.
GROUP STUDY ROOMS
There are seven (7) group study rooms available for students' use. Reservations for the group study rooms are highly recommended,
since the rooms are in great demand. The rooms are located at the 1st Floor. The rooms and capacity are as follows:

STUDY ROOM POLICY
The rooms are available for study when a group of students are working on a team project.
The rooms are not intended for individual
use. To ensure fair access by the campus community,
please observe the following rules and procedures:

Reservations need to be made 1 day in advance. To make a reservation, you can:

Stop by at the Information Desk, 1st Floor between the hours of
09.00a.m to 5.00p.m from Monday to Friday or |

Call 085-443915 during office hours. |

Booking form is available at the Information Desk, 1st Floor. |

On the spot reservation will not be entertained if the reservation schedules are full. |

Rooms may be occupied for up to 2 hours. One additional renewal is permitted,
provided that no other group reserved the room. |

If a group doesn't show up within 15 minutes past the scheduled time, the reservation
is canceled. The room will be considered available for use by other users. |

The library is not responsible for personal items left in the rooms. |
| # |
Library materials left in the rooms will be cleared on a daily basis and re-shelved
by staff on duty at the 1st Floor. |

Rooms are not sound proof; users should be sensitive to the need for quiet in order
not to disturb other library users. |

Keep the rooms clean and tidy. |

Furniture may NOT to be rearranged, do not remove chairs from nearby study spaces
or out of the rooms and blinds should not be raised. |

Anyone who uses the study room is responsible for the condition of the room and
should return furniture to the original arrangement. Costs to fix any damage to
the room will be charged to the person who made the reservation. |

No food or drinks are allowed in the study room. |
STUDY CARRELS
There are 52 study carrels available at the 1st Floor for individual study.
READING AREAS
THE NEW STUDY AREA
This area is located at the AL100 Building, 1st Floor next to the Council Room. This new area
is for students to do their studying or
revision. The usage of the area is the same with the
Library Opening hours. To get to this area, the students have to use the staircase
from the
Locker Area. Usage of the lift is prohibited weather to go up or come down from 1st floor.
Please respect other users in this
area by lower your voice and keep your conversation brief.
Students are to be reminded on not to leave their belongings unattended at
this area to avoid
any inconveniences. All tables and chairs are NOT to be moved from their place.
COMMON READING AREA
This area is located at the Ground Floor. The larger tables provided for reading and group
studying. There is an area with comfortable
sofas and small table near the journals' shelves
for reading magazines and newsletters. This area is particularly busy during mid-semesters
and examinations periods. Please respect other users in this area by lower your voice and
keep your conversation brief.
QUIET READING AREA
This area located at the Ground Floor with comfortable reading tables and chairs. Quiet
Reading Area is a designated QUIET ZONE.
This area is reserved for reading
and individual studying activities, and must be absolutely quiet. Any kind of talking,
including whispering
will not be permitted. Use of equipment that might disturb other users
(e.g. cellular phones) is also not permitted. Users are advised to make as little noise as
possible when retrieving, replacing or using newspapers and journals in this area.

LOCKER RENTAL PROCEDURES
There are a limited number of lockers available for rental on a semester basis. The rental is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Complete the Locker Information and Application Form (this form is available at Library's Information and Circulation
Counter). |

Please read through the Locker Rental Policies, Fees and Regulations stated on the Form carefully before
signed it. |

Upon completed, return the form and pay the following fees:

Key deposit (refundable): RM20.00 |

Rental fee per semester (non-refundable): RM20.00 |

Upon approval, the locker key will be given to you. |
| 5. |
At the end of semester, return the key to the counter and the library will return your key deposit fee. |

You must repeat this same process at the beginning of each semester if you want to rent the locker again. |
| 7. |
No early reservation is allowed. |
SUGGESTION BOX AND FEEDBACK
We aim to produce an environment conducive to studying, teaching and learning and we value
your suggestions on how the Library
can be improved. There is a suggestion box available
at the Ground Floor of the Library (next to the notice board). The form is available
at
Reference Services' Counter.
